What are AllianzGI's capabilities for Active ETFs?

FAQ: Active ETFs explained

An exchange-traded fund (ETF) is a pooled investment vehicle that holds a selection of assets such as stocks and bonds. An ETF is listed on a stock exchange, similar to an individual stock, and can be bought and sold during the trading day. ETFs come in two types: active and passive.
A passive ETF aims to track the performance of a market index. It does so by holding the same investments in the index in the same proportions. Passive ETFs tend to be simple, low-cost investments that require relatively little human oversight.

Active ETFs aim not merely to mirror a market index but to outperform it. They are overseen by portfolio managers who select securities based on their investment views. Active ETFs have the potential to deliver investment outperformance, or "alpha", while also aiming to offer active risk management during market volatility.
Both active and passive ETFs are listed on stock exchanges and can be bought or sold throughout the day via brokers or investment platforms.
Active ETFs offer intraday liquidity, daily transparency of holdings and potentially greater accessibility. Traditional mutual funds are typically priced only at the end of the trading day and may disclose their holdings on a monthly or quarterly basis. Both fund vehicles can offer the benefits of active management and we believe both fund types have their place in modern portfolios.
AllianzGI offers a high-conviction, active management philosophy and a flexible, multi-asset approach to risk management. AllianzGI has already successfully launched Active ETFs in Taiwan, where it is a leading player in the local market.
Like all investments, Active ETFs carry risk. Performance depends on factors such as market movements, interest rates and the manager’s decisions. The strategies aim to outperform their benchmark, but this cannot be guaranteed and periods of underperformance may occur. Currency fluctuations may negatively impact returns. ETFs may be exposed to counterparty risk. The value of your investment can go down as well as up, and you may not get back the amount you invested*.

*UCITS ETF’s units / shares purchased on the secondary market cannot usually be sold directly back to UCITS ETF. Investors must buy and sell units / shares on a secondary market with the assistance of an intermediary (e.g. a stockbroker) and may incur fees for doing so. In addition, investors may pay more than the current net asset value when buying units / shares and may receive less than the current net asset value when selling them.

Investing involves risk. The value of an investment and the income from it may fall as well as rise and investors might not get back the full amount invested.

Past performance does not predict future returns. If the currency in which the past performance is displayed differs from the currency of the country in which the investor resides, then the investor should be aware that due to the exchange rate fluctuations the performance shown may be higher or lower if converted into the investor’s local currency.
